✧ Sixth Rebellion ✧ A Calm and Pleasant Life Is Not For Me [Action]

[After three weeks as a child, waking up as her adult self again is a bit of a change. She remembers everything that transpired and grimaces at most of it. The time she spent with Padmé was nice, almost like her childhood with both Sabé and Breha around. However, she doesn't reflect easily on a few interactions.

Luckily, she's always worn loose pyjamas to bed and she's not a very large woman, so walking around in the night gown she fell asleep in isn't too uncomfortable. And the fact that it's very early in the morning helps so that no one sees her steal from the guest room where Luke put her and into the room she normally shares with Han.

She finds him asleep in their bed and she realizes just how much she's missed him, despite seeing him everyday. It... was definitely not the same and she can only imagine the pain he must of gone through to find his already younger wife changed into a girl only a few years older than their daughter. Instead of climbing into the bed with him, she sits on the empty side, amused that he is holding her pillow while he sleeps.

After she's had enough time to calm herself, Leia leans forward and gently touches Han's shoulder. It should be enough to wake him up. He's never been a very heavy sleeper.]

You know, I might have wanted my pillow back.

House 46 Residents

[Hello, family. Instead of a cute little girl at the breakfast table waiting for food to magically appear like it always does, today you get a slightly tired but happy to be normal again woman. Enjoy the slight normalcy as she attempts to drink a cup of coffee and make pancakes for everyone without burning them.]

Around the village -

[Despite her lovely little Shift, Leia is going about her business as if things over the last three weeks haven't changed. She stops off at the Library to return some books she borrowed. She visits both Seventh Heaven and the cafe that Helios runs above it to check in with her former cooking instructors. She makes a stop at the smithy to bring Han (and Sokka, she hopes), lunch from the restaurant. Her final stop is the Battle Dome, where she spends an hour practicing with her lightsaber, trying to get the feel of it in her hands again to not be awkward.]

[No, he really didn't. And it wasn't helped by the fact that she'd just run from a highly suspicious Han either.

She laughs at the violence in her young friend's reaction, but she's happy to see that he's no worse for the wear.]\

I assure you that I am very pleased to be back to my correct age. Being a jumpy ten year-old little girl is no fun. Especially when it means someone loses their hair.

I'll just have to trust you about that. Being a jumpy ten year old I have experience with; being a jump ten-year-old girl, on the other hand....

Oh right, that bit. [Thank you for bringing up that painful subject. He'd almost just gotten over it already.] Look, it could have been worse. It could have been even more of my hair, and it'll grow back to the proper length in a few weeks or so. But hey, that means I don't have to cut my hair for a while longer, right? [Not that that's a fantastic consolation prize, but it is a small consolation.]

I'm not sure it has to do with me being a girl. I think it has more to do with the fact that I was the daughter of a very publicly influential man. There had been more than one attempt to kidnap me by the time I was ten.

[Not to mention that she's been held captive by the Empire and its remnants at least a handful of times well into her adulthood. It's hard being Leia, okay.]

As for your hair, take this consolation. I once attempted to cut my hair as a girl. My aunts then purchased a wig that I was forced to wear until my hair grew back. In the middle of the hottest summer on record for Alderaan. It could be worse.

People tried to kidnap you when you were ten? And earlier? Wow, that practically makes my story of having my mother killed by firebenders when I was ten seem pretty tame.

[Okay, that'll net Leia a couple hundred respect points, especially for mostly turning out okay in the end.]

Hey, if you think a wig is bad, you should try gluing on facial hair.

[And in an instant he turns around for bit a second or two, and he'll turn back to face Leia with a rather prominent beard and a moustache.]

It makes you look way older, but it can be extremely itchy.

[She frowns at his first statement.] Having one's parent is never tame, Sokka. Never.

[When he mentions the facial hair thing, she can't help but raise an eyebrow.]

And you know this from experience, I take it. Why am I not surprised.

[Sokka knows that it's not nothing that his mother died, especially as a sacrifice to save his sister. It's just a little bit of Sokka's darker humour.]

Hey, you should take this one up with Aang. He's the one that wanted to attend a school in enemy territory, got in trouble, and then had to find fake parents to bring in to meet the principal! It was the only disguise I could work up on such short notice.

[This is beside the point that, later on, Sokka used this same disguise to join the Fire Nation army. And also to play at being a psychiatrist for Aang. These incidents go unmentioned.

[Then again, why Sokka still has this same disguise three years after the fact is... also unmentioned.

[Sokka gives the beard a tug for a bit as if to demonstrate. But there's another thing that hasn't been brought up.]

So... what's with the food? The smithy isn't exactly the best spot for a picnic.

[Hm, well, her parents died to spark a true rebellion in their galaxy. However, not the parents that Sokka would know.

The moving of their conversation to the antics he has gotten up to with Aang and the rest of their friends is much better though.]

Why am I not surprised to hear that Aang is somehow wrapped up into this business? [The young man she grew to know during their trip in the past seems to be a very interesting character.] I'm sure that your disguise worked better than the one I used to rescue Han one time.

And I thought that you and Han could use food. You seem to both be the types to get wrapped up in projects if they're interesting enough. [Unlike her, who forgets to eat because every project requires all of her attention.] Besides, think of it as a bit of a peace offering over your hair.

Tell me about it. Guy can end a hundred-long year war with just the blink of an eye but also finds way too much joy surfing away on the back of an elephant koi fish.

[However, there is something in that that piques Sokka's interest.] You had to save Han once? Is that juicy gossip that I can hold over his head? [He looks far too excited about that one.]

You brought food? [Wow.] Thanks. I, uh, kind of don't know what to say.

Elephant koi fish? What's that? [You have her interest there.]

And, I doubt you can hold much over his head. He's hardly ashamed of what he used to be, Sokka. Besides, at this point, it's more like we take turns saving each other with Luke including just for extra strangeness.

[The life of Rebels-turned-politicians-turned-Jedi, okay?]

You say thank you and accept it. Also, I didn't cook this, so I can assure you that it is at least 95% edible.

You know, elephant koi. It's just some bright orange fish with a huge fin that's maybe... [he stretches out his hands for good measure, but he frowns a bit when he realises that that's not even close to the size of them] oh, probably the size of this building... and maybe the next building over from it too. Aang apparently thought it was fun to jump on the back of one of them, grab their top fin, and ride around the ocean.

[Sokka snaps his fingers a bit with regard to Han. Granted, he's not super disappointed by it, though his hopes are perhaps a bit dashed.]

That really sounds a lot like my sister and I along with Aang. And sometimes Zuko too. I couldn't keep track of those situations either.

[Sokka chuckles a bit at the part about Leia not cooking it, grinning wryly.]

Well then thanks. Maybe I'll have to pay you back with food that I didn't cook. Or maybe we'll just have to have a cooking competition to see whose food is worse?

[She blinks a bit at the description of this "fish" and sighs.]

That is rather large. Of course, there are carnivorous worms that live under the sand of some of the planets in the Outer Rim that get to be be the size of this whole village.

[Sarlaccs are gross, by the way.]

After a while, I think you stop counting, honestly. So long as the person you care for is safe, what does it matter if one has rescued someone more than the other way around?

[She snorts at his comment about a cooking competition.]

If you'd ask me when I first arrived, you might have had some competition with bad cooking, but I've taken lessons and can cook simple meals. This, however, is something more complicated. It's a rice dish that Han enjoys.. Risotto? I've never made it and I don't want to risk ruining it.

Carnivorous worms? That big? [Sokka makes a rather disgusted face at that.] Do they... eat people too? Yuck! Remind me never to go to the beaches in your world.

[Yeah, Sokka agrees.]

Yeah, I can agree with you on that. I mean, I care about my sister a lot. I wouldn't say I worry about her... don't tell her that, but I've put a lot of my personal life on hold to make sure she's alright. Even things I've really wanted to put serious time into. But it's worth it.

Hey, the best I can do is cook meat. I'm actually good at that. Ask me to throw in vegetables and I'm as clueless as... some...one... that... doesn't... have a clue?

[He grins widely, having failed to come up with... a good analogy.]

But hey, I won't complain about food. Still, thank you.

[Leia laughs a little at his reaction, fully understanding it, honestly.]

Mostly the desert planets, Sokka. The ocean planets don't have Sarlaccs. Sadly, Tatooine, where Luke and Anakin were raised is one of those planets. [And still exists.]

Hm, I think I put my own life on hold to make sure that our galaxy was mostly in order before I marry Han and settle down to have children. However, it's worth it, considering the mess that got handed to us at the end of the Galactic Civil War.

[She smiles at his comment about food.]

I've known enough young men in my time both here and back home to hope that that was the case with you.

[~~When you have a big machine that can blow up planets, clarifying that planets still exists is quite important.~~]

Still, I think I'd be creeped out to ever set food on sand on any of your planets just knowing it. In fact, if the ocean here disappears again, remind me never to go walking out into the desert. That's going to give me nightmares tonight.

It's kind of the same way with me. I've got a girlfriend of... what, two and some years that I barely get to see much because I'm too busy defending the world from evil boogiemen and wars that keep on starting despite the fact that everyone should be tired of war by now. So yeah, I completely feel you. Especially here since whatever spooky thing bringing everyone here hasn't brought my girlfriend yet. Seriously, what gives?

[He smirks a bit for the last part.]

So, what, have you known any young girls complain about free food before?

[~~In the grand scheme of things, blowing up Tatooine would have saved everyone a whole lot of trouble, the Empire included. Tarkin just helped the Rebellion, okay okay?~~]

Well, as far as I know, no one's managed to bring one to Luceti, so I think we're safe, Sokka.

And, honestly, after everything that's happened, do you wish for this girl you care for to show up? This hasn't been an experience I would wish on anyone I love, to be honest. [Although, she's lucky to have two of the most important people in her life here already.]

I attended an all girls school for "Ladies of Distinction". Teenaged girls barely eat and they obsess over what it is that they do eat, from what I could gather.

It doesn't hurt to be safe? I mean, have you seen some of those gigantic monster birds that this place has brought here? First that big blue Pokémon thing, and then Wan Shi Tong, "knower of ten thousand idiotic things"? [The last part is said with great derision; yeah, Sokka is not a fan of the creepy library spirit owl.]

Well... I mean, I don't really... really want her to come here, but... can't I just feel a little envious of everyone else who does have their significant others here?

[Seriously, Leia, just give him that one. I mean, you're the one who already has the love of your life here.]

Seriously, have you even seen my friends? Katara eats her fair share of the food, and don't even get me started about Toph. I mean, she can outeat me, and she's two years younger than me!

I agree that Wan Shi Tong is impressive. However, I think he'd taste just as tasty as you or I to a Sarlacc. [Although, probably not as tasty as a fat, greasy slug named Jabba. Just saying.]

I know what you mean about not wanting to be alone here. A part of me is grateful that Han is here, no matter that we are from different points in time. [She places a hand on his arm a little.] But, if I could help it, I would rather have him home, with our children. He is needed there more.

As for your friends, I have only met Korra and Aang. I can't speak for the others. They sound like they have healthy, normal appetites for active people of any gender, however.

So you're telling me... that Han is a better babysitter than you are? [He pauses for a moment.] This is the same Han guy that I know, right? I'm surprised he doesn't let them tear up the house for fun. I'm surprised he doesn't tear up the house on his own.

[Sokka shrugs a bit when it comes to his friends.] Well, all the people from my world are a little weird, I won't deny, but yeah, you should see them at dinner. It's kind of an... experience.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it... I should apologise for sounding like a weird creep out in the forest. I've had... weird experiences with people with those shift things going on with them, and I'm still not used to dealing with that.

They are his children, Sokka. And Han is good with those who depend upon him. [She smiles at her young friend.] Besides, he needs something to occupy his time while the grown-ups are at work. And as long as our home is clean by the time I get there, I fail to see the problem. I'm sure there are a few droids around to help him.

Besides, Luke seems to watch him as much as the children, so...

I've had the dubious pleasure of seeing a Hutt eat. I will pass on any other such adventures. [Because ew. No.]

As for what happened in the forest, why don't we let bygones be bygones. It was a rather stressful experience for us both.

Oh, I get it. So the kids are there to keep Han from getting into trouble because he's too busy taking care of other things. Clever...

[And Sokka just gives her a cheeky grin.]

Yeah, I'm not going to even ask who this Hutt guy is. Sounds like... someone that I'd be better off not knowing.

Yes, I'm sure that's exactly my thinking. Besides, between Han, Chewbacca and Luke, the children are both cared for and entertained.

Hutts are actually a race of...beings that resemble giant slugs with disgusting tastes. Everyone is better of not knowing them.

[Okay, with that, Sokka is going to put the food that Leia has given him down and then walk over to her and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.]

Number one: You need to pick the people you know better.

Two: I have even more respect for you now that I know you've had to deal with all this.

And three: If I ever get the chance to visit your world and I turn you down, just remember it's not about you. It's about all these stories you keep telling me.

[She looks over at the hand and then back at Sokka.]

Jabba the Hutt wasn't someone I met by choice. It was a necessity. [She needed to get Han back, okay. She would have done more if she could.] And you do a lot of things during times of war. Some of them you don't hate as much as others.

[She laughs bitterly at his last remark.]

The Core planets are fine. The Outer Rim? That's where all these stories come from. Part and parcel of fighting the establishment, sadly.

[~~Okay, how about this. Han needs to pick the people he knows better.~~]

Still, I'd hate to see the string of events that would have led you needing to get involved with some nasty disgusting slugman. I mean, I'm just counting my lucky karma here that we don't have those things. Angry panda bear spirits who swallow people up, yes, but disgusting slugmen, no.

[How he can even compare the two is beyond understanding.]

Well, if it gets better, maybe you should tell some of the better stories one day. Maybe then I'll actually come visit you if we get out of here and get this magical world bridge that people keep hoping happens.
