[It was a testament to how little Leia knew Anakin that she thought this shell of a person standing before her was almost recovered. This was Anakin walking and talking, nothing more, he wasn't even close to back to his old self. Padme had noticed it within moments of seeing him again, though he hadn't given any explanation. Even after having his arm chopped off and dealing with his mother's death, which was the last time Padme had seen him back home before returning to Luceti, he was more jovial than he was in this place.]
"Nothing about Luceti. She's... from an earlier point in time. Three years earlier."
[Anakin understood what that would mean for Leia, and it was the reason he'd come out to tell her before she stumbled across Padme unawares.]
"I'm sorry, she has no memory of you. But I told her about you."
[Well, she and Anakin have hardly sat down to have many heart-to-hearts and she's still learning how to focus on her Force abilities. She's not as well-trained as Luke or Anakin, and she doesn't really like the prying feeling she got when she was too close to another person.
Having Anakin up, functional and using more than a few words at a time to talk to other people-even going so far to seek her out-was more than enough for her to think he might be on his way to coming back to a normal-ish way of dealing with the rest of them.]
She doesn't remember anything then. [It was both a relief and a stab to the heart, honestly. It would give her time to get to know her mother once again, without all of the awkwardness of her own departure. However, it also meant trying to help Padmé reconcile herself to the idea of children she didn't know.
Something Leia was still in the process of doing without the benefit of actually dealing with her future children.]
Well, that's something. I...[She looks over at Han and tries not to think about the implications of everything.] I'll let her get to know us in increments then. It might be easier for her in the long run.
[Anakin stared blankly at Han for a few seconds, trying to determine if that implication was intentional insulting or not. Worse things, like the fact he kills her.
He would have like to leave at that moment, but he had one more detail to convey.]
"We," [Clearly meaning him and Luke.] "Didn't tell her about the future more than to explain you and Luke's exited."
[Really, Han, do you think before you say things? You should know better. Leia, knowing what happens, attempted to not flinch at her husband's faux pas as she elbowed him in the gut, focusing her attention back on Anakin.]
Well, that does help, in case I run into her. I will keep that in mind.
[She tried to give him a reassuring smile, but how effective it would be at this point was probably nonexistent.]
[Anakin didn't have any more information to relay, and this conversation had surpassed awkward and had moved into painful territory for him. It was time for him to go.
He ended things with a customary Jedi bow.]
"I'm glad your mission was a success." [It was the most honest, positive salutation he could think of.
[She could be angry with Han, but what good would it serve. How many times had she herself stumbled over words with Anakin? No, when it came to her birth father, things were hard fought for and easily lost with a few misplaced words.
But to actually have him come down here and show concern for her well-being was... new. Nice even.]
I know, Han, but he's so unhappy and easy to rile up.

[Just when they think they have it all figured out.]
There are worse things to learn than having a couple amazing kids in the future.
[Such as... a lot of the rest of the future. He's certainly not going to tell Padme any of that himself. It's not his place.
And he knew a thing or two about easing a person into things.]

Thank you for coming out to tell me this.

The other interpretation occurred to him roughly in sync with that elbow.
Okay, so no more talking about that. Something more neutral.]
It's... good to know she's back.
[He did like her, from their brief meetings before.]

It's a good thing you're handsome. Sometimes.

[Yeah that went poorly]
Not anything like I was going for.
[He swears he's trying to get along with Anakin]
