Personality: When one thinks of the iconic Princess Leia Organa, many different traits come to mind. The first thing that strikes is how very brave she is. Even when she's terrified, she doesn't let that define her and keep from doing what needs to be done, such as sending the Death Star plans ahead with R2D2 to Obi-Wan Kenobi right before Darth Vader captured her ship. When face-to-face with both Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin, her response is "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers." She keeps her composure through a few interrogations by her Imperial captors and even a round or two of torture with a droid.
Another instance was when she went into Jabba’s lair with only Chewbacca as backup to rescue Han when he was turned over to the Hutt for a debt he supposedly owed. She handled herself without wavering and grace, even when she was being used as a captive slave as well. She managed to not alert Jabba and his cronies to the fact that she and Luke knew one another when he appeared and had enough of her wits about her, even drugged and humiliated as she was, to strike at the most opportune time and use the chain holding her captive to kill Jabba while he was distracted. She takes her responsibilities as a Princess, Senator and Rebel Alliance leader very seriously, pouring herself into everything she does with a passion that she got from her birth mother, Padmé Amidala of Naboo, and her adopted father, Bail Organa of Alderaan. It is her duty to make sure that she assists in overthrowing the Empire any way she can, a feeling she's had since a very young age. In fact, her first sign of civil disobedience was at the tender age of seven, where she led a hug sit-in over the juice served at her school. When she sent R2D2 off to Obi-Wan Kenobi, it wasn’t to be freed. She needed him to take the plans back to the Rebel forces to continue the mission. She’d already resigned herself to the fact that she might die.
Her exact message she recorded on R2D2 was "General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." These aren't the words of a woman begging to be rescued, but of her mission to be continued for the greater good.
Another personality trait is her haughtiness, or as Han likes to call it her "Royal Highness" attitude. While generally a warm, caring and compassionate person, Leia can fall back on the lessons she learned as a child to distance herself from the situation, whether that is from the not unwanted advances from a certain space ship captain or the torture she endured at Vader's hands on the Death Star. However, she can be charismatic and lovely, showcasing her more generous and patient side. This was rather evident when she was on the moon of Endor and dealing with the Ewoks or when she dealt with Luke initially (if only because his crush on her was something that actually helped while they were attempting to get to Alderaan). It resurfaces on Echo Base (on Hoth), after Han brings a badly injured, nearly-dead Luke back from his fight against the Wampa. She sits by his side and speaks to him gently until Han interferes. And again, her natural charm and wit show up in Cloud City when she is first introduced to Lando Calrissian and his debonair style of manners.
She’s a quick thinker, using instinct and a sharp, natural intelligence to get her out of tricky situations. She is the one who snatches up a blaster and shoots a hole into the trash grate of the Death Star so that she and the others can escape the Imperial Stormtroopers firing on them. (Let’s please ignore the snake thing that nearly drowned Luke or the walls that almost flattened them. R2D2 was there.)
Sadly, she’s also inherited the Skywalker impatience and stubborn streak. When she’s around Han Solo, nearly all of her proper training is thrown out the window for snarky banter with the low-brow captain and lots of unresolved sexual tension. She calls him an "arrogant, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder" when Han teasingly suggested that she had confessed love to him while Luke was healing in the bacta tank on Hoth's Echo Base.
And once she’s made up her mind to do something, it’s nearly impossible to get her to be moved. This is a fact that her adoptive aunts—the sisters of Bail Organa—knew all too well while the princess was growing up, leading them to despair that she would ever find a husband in her lifetime. When Anakin's Force Ghost visited her during the Bakura incident, Leia absolutely refused to speak to him and definitely did not want to forgive him. He was still Darth Vader in her mind and a monster, making her question if she wasn't a walking time bomb as well. She never thought to question if Luke would turn however.
The fact that she is a Skywalker throws her through a loop and the fact that she is just as capable of being a Jedi Knight like her brother feels impossible to her, but she still continues fighting. She doesn’t realize that it is because of her Force sensitivity that she was able to help lead Lando Calrissian and the Millennium Falcon to where Luke was dangling off the antenna of Cloud City or that because of her deeply buried talents that the Force Bond she has with Luke is so strong. She contributes it to Luke’s Jedi powers because her own history had been kept from her until Endor. It’s only lack of training that keeps her back.
All of these traits lead to a heroine who doesn’t fade into the background while she waits to be rescued. She’s perfectly capable of doing that herself, and probably better than Han or Luke, because, seriously, she rescues both of them just as many times as they do her. A woman who is as much a thorn in the side of Emperor Palpatine as her twin brother, whether able to tap into the Force or not.
Abilities/Powers:Physical: Being a tomboy her entire life, Leia is used to being active. While she is short in stature, she makes up for it in being able to fit into smaller places to hide, such as when she hides behind the crates in the bay of the Death Star, making her less obvious than Han, Luke and Chewbacca. She can easily keep up with the very active soldier types around her. She holds her own on Endor’s moon, taking down as many Stormtroopers as the men she is with, although not as many as their Ewok friends.
Mental: Leia is possibly the most mentally sound of the entire Star Wars cast. Because of her training as the princess of Alderaan and as a politician, she is able to go into herself, detach herself from the situation as it were, to save her skin. It is how she was able to withstand her interrogation by Darth Vader after she was captured. She is also the one who keeps her calm and controls Chewbacca when Lando Calrissian turns her, the Wookie and Han Solo over to Darth Vader as a trap for Luke in Cloud City. And despite the fact that Han was about to be frozen in carbonite, something that he might or might not have survived, she only told him that she loved him instead of struggling in her bonds. She was also the one who led the group to go and rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt and his carbonite prison by using subterfuge and her ability to lie fairly well.
Emotional: Leia’s compassion for those being oppressed is a driving force for her. She uses her many natural talents to press forward to obtain freedom for every citizen of the Galactic Empire. This was a trait fostered by her adopted father, Bail Organa of Alderaan that led to her involvement with the Rebel forces, but was inherited from her birth mother, Padmé Amidala of Naboo. Weaknesses: Physical: Well, Leia, like Luke, is of a small, slight build. They take after their mother, Padmé in that respect. She’s also not as strong as the other people around her (considering most are men), and is forced to look for alternate solutions to the problems she faces, often having to “surrender” until she can find a way out. She is also very recognizable throughout the galaxy due to her beauty and status. Her distinct hairstyles are elaborate and also make it impossible for her to just “blend in” with the common rabble. She is literally a woman it would take a Jedi Mind Trick to forget.
Mental: Although with just as much potential for the Force as her twin brother, Leia has never been trained and has assort of mental block on her abilities. The only time you see her actually able to tap into them before the battle on Endor’s moon is when Luke was dangling from the antennae of Cloud City and she could sense him so that Lando could fly the Millennium Falcon to where he was to save him from certain death. She is also hot-headed and stubborn, leading her to be unable to even get anywhere near to the state of mind she should be in to be able to access the Force for her first conscientious attempt.
Emotional: When her pride is ruffled, Leia acts impetuously. The most infamous case of this is when Han insulted her after Luke’s rescue on Hoth and she reacted by kissing Luke when it was plain that she wanted to either kiss or strike out at Han. This also leaves her open to emotional manipulation by Han on more than one occasion, such as the scene where he finally kissed her and then left her there for other matters, openly wanting more than just a kiss.

Prose Sample: Paperwork was an everyday occurrence for Leia Organa. Paperwork and meetings, sometimes with meals, and occasionally with people she actually liked too. However, the times with her brother or Han were few and far between and she was beginning to truly miss them. Luke’s mission to find anything related to the Jedi Order before their birth had become his life. He spent little time with the Alliance forces, instead traveling with R2D2 in his tiny X-Wing to save lives and old Jedi treatises so that he could rebuild what the Sith had destroyed in twenty short years.
And Han was as busy as Leia was, off fighting the Imperial remnants. He and Chewbacca were rarely ever on the same planet as Leia and the provisional council, always off flying somewhere on the Millennium Falcon. There were times where she missed the General and his Wookiee companion. (If she were honest with herself, those times were nearly every day they were apart. And the times they were together were too few and far between for either of their liking.)
But there was so much work to do and who else would do it? Who else could? The rest of the council meant well, and did what they could, but she was a symbol, a living sign for the oppressed and downtrodden in the galaxy. And after a lifetime of training to do the job she was doing now, she couldn’t stop. Her parents’ goal was only half-realized. With Palpatine dead and Vader no longer a threat, the hard part was done. Once the capital planet, Coruscant, belonged to the Alliance, the rest of the Core planets would come easily to join their cause since it would finally be legitimatized. Or at least, that was the ultimate goal.
Bakura had been the first test, one that she, Han and Luke had passed with flying colours. Of course, there had been the near death for Luke and captivity for herself, but that felt had like just another day for them. It was a bit par for the course when one was heading a rebellion, and the clean up as well it seemed.
This paperwork, however, had a special purpose. Once she signed her name to this, it would begin an important chain of events for the galaxy. A simple stroke of the pen would give Admiral Ahkbar the funds to begin assembling pilots for the new Rogue Squadron, led by Wedge Antilles, a hero from the Battle of Yavin, a capable pilot and a dear, dear friend. She would continue to save people from Imperial dogs and that was always a good thing in her book.
Misc: With proper training Leia can be a very capable Force User. Her potential is as follows:
Force Powers:
- She will become a proficient Lightsaber wielder.
- She can establish her own Force Bonds.
- She can use Force Telekinesis to move objects moderate distances.
- She has the ability to use the Force to maximize her muscle capacity to move faster and lift around 250 lbs. with her body.
- Her natural empathy has been multiplied a thousand times over with her connection. She can sense emotions that others will want to be kept hidden or not. She can tell if someone is lying by how they move and feel.
- She has an ability called Saber Throw where she tosses her lightsaber and uses the Force to pull it back quickly. It's a talent that not many Jedi have that she does and she's become quite proficient in it
- While she cannot see as far into the future as Luke or Mara, she has gained insight to see about a half-second ahead, which is enough to keep herself and someone at her back safe from preventable danger.
- She can use the self-heal ability that any Force sensitive person can, but at this point she can only use it to remove toxins and poisons from herself. She will, after some time (possibly a year of continued intensive training) be able to use it to heal wounds.
- She can use the "Jedi Mind Trick" against the extremely weak willed, but it's something that requires practice and not something Leia is comfortable actually using. She'd rather persuade with her words instead of using the Force.
